The Attached Spirit- Meriden, CT
Our group was contacted by a couple in Meriden who were experiencing
several unexplained and, oftentimes, scary incidents that had occurred in
their new home, which had been recently renovated. With reports of strange
odors, mysterious phone calls, and physical contact, along with a tragic past,
we decided that this case needed our immediate attention. Team members
John, Marcel, Laura and Rose went to investigate. The names of the clients
have been changed to protect their identity.
Allen and Marcy, along with Marcy’s two daughters live here. They have all
seen shadowy figures around the home, one which appears to be a man
dressed in 1950’s style clothing. Marcy had received a call on her cell phone,
from a woman named Elizabeth, who pleaded for Marcy to contact her then
hung up. She doesn’t know anyone by this name, but it sounded urgent, so
she immediately hit the call back button, only to find that the call had come
from a number that was not in service. After doing some research on the
property, Marcy learned that there were two brothers, who both lived in the
house, and who both died in the early 1950’s. One of them had a daughter
named Elizabeth . Is it possible that the family, who had resided here so
many years ago, is still there? Maybe, but so many of the occurrences that
had been described to us didn’t fit into the typical residual haunting scenario.
However, after delving into Marcy’s own past, we discovered that, perhaps,
someone else may have moved into the house with them.
Marcy’s past included a boyfriend named Donald. In a short period of time,
she had lost a baby and he committed suicide. She has tried to move on with
her life, but finds it difficult to have a lasting relationship. Is it possible that
Donald won’t let her go, because he, himself, has yet to move on?
Allen explained that strange things happen most often when he and Marcy
become intimate. He showed us a photo of them, hung securely, which has
been knocked off the wall several times. Marcy has actually been pushed
out of their bed by an unseen force and Allen received unexplained scratches
on his leg while taking a shower. One night, Marcy’s cell phone rang, but she
couldn’t answer it, because it was powered off and charging. The next
morning she found an eerie voicemail, from an unknown source, with the
message “don’t you leave me”.
Our investigation began with an EMF sweep of the entire house and attic.
We hit a spike in the bedroom and, as we were looking for a possible cause,
a urine-type odor emerged. Allen said he had experienced that odor a few
times before and once it was unbearably strong, but that it goes as quickly
as it comes. There was nothing in the attic, but since they reported hearing
foot steps, and the family had captured a photo with possible psychic mist up
there, we decided to set up a night vision camera along with a ghost box (an
electronic device, with a 2600 word vocabulary, which is said that spirits can
use to communicate with). It said “John”, followed by “Adam”, which is
Investigator John’s middle name. Was something trying to acknowledge his
presence or scare us away?
We decided that, if this was Donald, he would be more open to communicate
with Marcy present, so we included her in an EVP session. At one point, she
said that it felt like someone was holding her hands, and then the EMF
detector spiked. Although our previous sweep of the attic came up empty
and there was no electrical source up there, we quickly did another sweep,
but found that it only read higher when it was placed in the space directly in
front of her. And, despite the heat in the attic, her hands were ice cold. . .
After several hours, it was time to wrap up the investigation. We
recommended a Christian style cleansing, and left them with several blessed
items including a cross, a medal, and a sacramental candle. At this point,
Marcy doesn’t feel threatened by the presence, but we will return with our
Sensitive and keep the case open to monitor any further developments.
