Litchfield families nightmare
It is not like me to get involved in cases which involve the possibility of demons. Fear of
someone on my team getting hit, scratched, thrown or even possessed is something
that crosses my mind often. Recently I was contacted by a woman in Litchfield
Connecticut who explained to me she feared for her children and herself. She said that
many things were going on in her newly rented home in which she just signed a one
year lease. She said it started the very first night she moved in. The occurrences
started mildly with knocks and bangs around the roof line. She said being an older
house she wrote the noises off as possibly wildlife in the attic. After a few days the
occurrences became more frequent and more dramatic. The woman’s three children,
ages 5, 6, and 8 slept in the same room while she stayed in the master bedroom right
next door. On the forth night there she told me that her youngest ran into her room
terrified saying that a man was in her room. Being recently divorced the woman said
she grabbed a shoe as a weapon and entered the room. She said it was very cold but
noticed the other two children were still asleep. She told her youngest to stay the night
with her.

The noises in the attic continued she said. They were mostly at night but living on a
main route she said maybe the traffic noises drowned some of the daytime noises out.
Being alone and fearing the worse the woman began to search the internet to see what
her options were. She began to email groups and clergy from around the country
looking for help. She began communicating with a pastor from Texas she said, she got
his phone number and also spoke on the phone. She said he told her to have faith and
pray.

The day before she contacted us the noises became louder than they were before she
told us. The woman said she tried to call the pastor and had phone problems. “A loud
electrical sound wouldn't’t allow her to continue the calls. Only when she tried to call
the pastor did that happen. That evening she said the banging continued, the children
were afraid and all wanted to leave the home. The woman said a week earlier a woman
she hired to house sit was left while she and the children made a four hour drive to see
family in upstate New York. She told us the house sitter said her she went to the bath
tub to run water for a warm bath. “I entered the bathroom and noticed what looked like
blood in the bottom of the tub”. She went on to say “I wiped it up and went to throw the
paper away but when I returned to the tub more blood began to drip down the sides”.
She also mentioned the noises in the attic.

I thought for a while about what this woman was telling me. I didn't’t want to get a lot of
our members involved until I went to see exactly was going on. Many times in the past
in cases like this I have referred them to a brother group who has access to a
demonologist, but with this situation we needed to get there fast and try and figure out
what was bothering the woman. An investigator who lives nearby happened to be
visiting me so he and I went out to meet the family. When we arrived I noticed the
woman appeared to be terrified. She explained she had no other place to go and I just
don’t know what to do.

It wasn’t long before we heard the noises in the attic. The noises began as a tapping
sound and then there were some loud bangs as if something was being dropped on
the floor. We blessed ourselves and said a prayer of protection and began
investigating. Being an exterminator for close to fifteen years I am relatively
comfortable with attics. Upon entering the attic I noticed a chill in the air. It was winter
and figured that was normal. As my investigator snapped shots downstairs with his
digital camera, I used a EMF detector and measured the temp at 42 degrees. I noticed a
lot of mouse droppings but no evidence of a larger animal which could possibly be
making the loud noises. I didn't experience any other things up there that I would
consider out of the norm, the banging had stopped. We then looked at the bathtub and
there was no blood but the woman kept telling me over and over “It was blood she told
me!” My investigator and I weren’t able to diagnose what the problem was and I told the
woman we had several options.

One option was we could refer her case to our brother group who specialize in
demonic hauntings but it may take a few days for them to come, the second option was
we could come back and do a full overnight investigation and try and truly diagnose
the problem or the last option was we could try a ritual right there and now and see
what happens. “The investigator I brought with me has done many Pagan style
cleansings” I explained to her. The ritual of smudging has helped some on some of our
past investigations and it may work for her. I did warn the woman that sometimes
things could get worse by doing the rituals depending what type of haunting was
going on. I could see the fear in the woman’s face and heard it in her voice when she
said “Do whatever you can for us right now, please!” “I am so afraid for my children
and never experienced anything like this”. I told her she has been living the past few
weeks with the happenings if she wanted to wait for our brother group. The woman
then broke down into tears and said “I didn’t want to tell you this because I thought
you may think I was crazy, but earlier today I thought I saw a small black figure about
the size of a child in the kitchen”. “I continued to do my chores when something
pinched my arm”. The woman said “I pulled up my sleeve and saw this”, she pulled up
her wool knit sleeve for us and showed us what appeared to be a small bite mark. We
could even make out the small teeth pattern.

I asked my investigator if he felt comfortable doing a cleansing and he said he was.
While the woman, children and I went to town for coffee and sodas the investigator set
up for the cleansing. He uses bundled sage, candles, a feather, and a crystal. While at
the restaurant I told the woman if things didn’t get better our group would help her find
short term living arrangement for the family until a demonologist could come. After a
little over an hour I received a call from my investigator and he assured me the
cleansing was done. The family and I returned. We waited a little over an hour and we
heard nothing. I asked the woman if I could take a picture of her arm and she agreed.
We also helped her locate a priest from a local church to have him come as soon as he
could to bless her home. We were ready to leave, but the woman seemed like she didn’t
want us to go so I told her “we are just a phone call away and if you need us we could
be there within minutes”. The following day I called the woman and she thanked me
over and over, she said “last night nothing happened”. I explained once again
“sometimes these things go dormant and come back with a vengeance so be
prepared”. I followed up for the next few days, the woman told me that a priest did
come by and bless the home. “It has been a few weeks now and everything is still
quiet” the woman told me. I will continue to stay in contact with the woman and will
update this story if anything new happens.
