GUNNTOWN CEMETERY
Respectfully submitted by: Leah Georgiades

In Naugatuck, Connecticut, there is a relatively small cemetery on Gunntown Road which is said by
many to be haunted. It is said that ragtime music can be heard in the background, along with children’s
laughter, there are also some reports of a little boy playing around the back stone wall of the cemetery
that slowly vanishes, also there has been a report of several people seeing a man with a horse holding
a lantern walking through the cemetery at night. People have posted photographs with many orbs and
odd lights in the pictures on their paranormal websites.

On Sunday, August 5th, during the late afternoon, we visited Gunntown cemetery to do an
investigation. During this investigation, the atmosphere was very nice and calm. Nothing out of the
ordinary struck us. While walking the grounds, I noticed the headstones dated back to early 1800s, with
a few from late 1700s. Some of the stones had been damaged by vandals, others were worn down by
nature.

After reviewing our film, tapes, our evps, and our digital cameras pics, no evidence was captured
during our visit. Although, I'm not sure if that would be the case if we had visited during the night hours
seeing we only stayed until dusk. On one other occasion, I visited this cemetery at night between 9 p.m.
and 12 p.m., although I didn’t get any evidence on my digital camera, the atmosphere and mood was
very different than I had experienced during the day. I was very jumpy, nervous, and didn’t want to be
left alone while within the cemetery walls. I didn’t hear or see anything paranormal, although it did
seem extremely dark and silent for such a location.

While taking into consideration there being a house fairly close by (which we did hear a radio and
children laughing and swimming), we’re inclined to believe that the noises could be the explanation for
reports of music and children laughing. Other than that, we cant find any explanation for the specific
sightings of the man with the horse and lantern, along with the little boy near the back wall.

In my opinion, if there is a way for us to re-visit at night, between 9 p.m. and 12 p.m., with the possibility
of getting police permission, and re-investigate, we might just capture evidence of the paranormal……

Could this be an explanation for the reports people have made of music and children laughing?
